There, you’re a stranger

I bought you a ticket
to one last place.
It’s right past the heart,
for just this case.

There, you’re a stranger,
unnoticed, as we pass on paths
where once, we joined souls
as the hours passed.

There, you’ll find no words
where your pages were;
as I sadly assert:
you’ve earned every tear it took
to wash you out of this book.
